Lake Placid Lodge Wedding: Allie & JP with their Dog, George! Lake Placid, NY

Allie & JP had a beautiful Lake Placid Lodge wedding!  Their beloved french bulldog, George, was the flower girl!  Allie & JP reside in Manhattan but wanted to get married in the stunning mountains of the Adirondacks.  They couldn’t have chosen a more perfect wedding venue!  The Lake Placid Lodge has several fantastic areas for great wedding photos.  But, it was the emotional moments of Allie & JP’s wedding that made it so incredible.  They had the cocktail hour before the ceremony, which I really like.  The guests were relaxed, mingled with the bride and groom, and were blown away by the incredible views of Lake Placid. Their wedding ceremony was my favorite part of the day, it was so romantic!  Allie didn’t want to stand too far away from JP during the ceremony, so she spontaneously ran over to his side and snuggled in!  It made for very poignant images!  It really is the moments that matter, the moments are what we remember.

Lake George Club Wedding - Melanie & Michael - Lake George, NY

Melanie and Michael had crazy weather for their Lake George Club wedding day!  The day started with sun, then the skies opened up and poured!  The rain stopped just in time for a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony on the dock at The Lake George Club.  We even had enough time for stunning wedding photos, on Lake George, in a hacker craft boat, before the rain returned.  Their wedding day continued with a rainbow and intense fog as the skies grew dark.  Throughout all the weather changes, Melanie and Michael had a fantastic wedding day full of emotional moments that matter!

Gorgeous Tablescape for a Wedding or Bridal Shower - Saratoga NY Wedding Photographer - Saratoga Springs, NY

This was such beautiful shoot!  This breathtaking tablescape would be absolutely perfect for any bride who wants a happy, fresh, vibrant look for their wedding or bridal shower!

Rena from Rena’s Fine Flowers out did herself!  She had a  beautiful spread of lush pink and vibrant coral peonies , clusters of double pink dutch tulips , soft pink garden roses , fluffy green viburnum, peachy /pink ranunculus, all  displayed in amazing shapes and sizes of milk glass.  The farm table and chairs from Rain or Shine Tent Co was the perfect canvas for this incredible wedding tablescape!

Mrs. London’s provided delicate pastel macaroons, scrumptious fruit tarts, white chocolate raspberry mousse, nebulas, and a double berry, lady finger adorned cake.

Callahs Table lent us their beautiful vintage china.     This rose china pattern was popular in the 1800’s, and then again after World War II.  The moss rose is a flower that was common in Victorian gardens.

Styled by Melissa created the pretty tablescape with sourced linen napkins and antique silverware.

A huge thank you to our models, both human and canine!

Trending Wedding Decor - Saratoga Weddings

It’s no secret that I love weddings, which is why photographing them will always be one of my lifelong passions. I am so blessed that the couples I work with put their full trust in me to capture the true essence of the beginning of the rest of their lives.

If you enjoy everything about weddings as much as I do, head on over to my Pinterest where all of the magic happens. There, you can get a more in depth peek into the breathtaking weddings I had the pleasure of photographing this past year, and you’ll have the chance to see what I mean when I say it’s truly the moments that matter as a photographer.

One of my favorite parts of photographing weddings is the uniqueness that comes with each and every couple.  I have always felt that your wedding décor should fully represent you and your personal style – not what you feel is expected of you.

With that being said, it’s my personal opinion and experience, that the more meaningful your wedding décor is, the more memorable it is.

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing some absolutely wonderful couple.  This comes some absolutely stunning and indelible wedding inspiration!

As a lover of all things sugary sweet, of course there were a few cakes and desserts that captured my attention. A favorite dessert display of mine was the rustic outdoor cupcake display at an Upstate NY family farm wedding. I love how well it captured the true essence of their wedding day and the couple themselves. Among other cakes/desserts I enjoyed last season were naked cakes, small bite sized tea cakes and simple white cakes adorned with gorgeous (not to mention trendy) succulents.  I also love when the couple includes their dogs as the cake topper!  One couple had a boston terrier cake topper and another couple proudly displayed their rescue dogs with a custom cake topper!

As for this past season’s floral arrangements, I have to say that the bohemian, free-spirited bouquets took the cake. Among my favorite floral beauties of the season were arrangements of dusty miller, wild flowers, peonies, sprigs of herbs, succulents, hydrangea, and plenty of greens. Large floral table runners, beautiful robust flower crowns and romantic cascading bridal bouquets were undoubtedly my favorites throughout the year.   Check out my floral post – a Q&A with some of my favorite florists!

Other wedding décor I adored this season were oversized marquee lights, vintage china/teacups, old books and pops of this year’s pantone color, marsala. The beautiful brides I worked with last season only further accentuated these details with strikingly gorgeous lace gowns, boho dresses and  of course the crowd favorite – flower crowns!  I just have to say, this season was definitely a great year for wedding décor, so bravo brides!

Wedding Horses and Wedding Dogs Styled Shoot - Saratoga NY Wedding Photographer - Saratoga Springs, NY

If you know me or any of my work, you already know… I. Love. Animals.

It’s that simple. I love to photograph critters of all kinds in all of their glory whether they are monkeys hanging out at La Senda Verde in Bolivia for Photographers Without Borders, horses at local barns or Saratoga Race Course. I also love photographing my own beloved 4 legged kids,  Mr. Moose, Sydney, and Roxy.

Collaborating on styled shoots with crazy talented area professional is one of my favorite things to do!  We always have so much fun planning and executing these shoots.   These artistic  ladies are not just my colleagues, but friends.

I certainly take any chance I can get to photograph my furry friends.  When I was asked by Saratoga Bride to photograph an equestrian and dog friendly wedding magazine cover- I jumped at the chance!.  Saratoga Today recruited JoAnn and Mark Pepper of Old Friends at Cabin Creek and the rescue dogs of H.O.P.E. and Homeward Bound Dog Rescue.

This was a fun and creative way  to spread the message about these three amazing charity organizations, while working together with a great team of professionals in the area to create something truly memorable.

Together we styled a bohemian bride’s dream wedding shoot complete with a flower crown from Native Farm Flowers, an incredibly romantic lace gown and veil from Claire Pettibone and a strapless stunner from WToo, both available at Something Blue Bridal.  Jaysie of Hair Creations created  soft natural looking tousled waves and Erin and Leah, of Erin Marzilli Make Up completed the look with fresh faced makeup. Despite the dazzling styling details, I sincerely believe it was the retired and rejuvenated horses of OFCC and the innocent and gentle pups of H.O.P.E and Homeward Bound Dog Rescue that made this shoot meaningful.

As always, I enjoyed working with the talented team of professionals involved on this project, and I am so thankful to have been able to work with and include astounding animal rescue organizations.

And I always love when couples include their horses and dogs in their wedding day.  Wedding horses and wedding dogs always make me smile!

Wedding Dress Inspiration - Saratoga NY Wedding

About this photoshoot:  I love everything about weddings!  It’s the moments on your wedding day that matter most and it’s my passion to document those emotional moments.  But,  being a bride once myself, I love all the exquisite details- from dreamy dresses to camera ready hair and make-up and stunning wedding bouquet!  This wedding dress inspiration photo shoot was for Something Bleu Bridal, for their ad campaigns.  The setting was the majestic, Highland Castle in Lake George.  A big thank you to our model Vera for braving the cold and the whole team.  Read more about our team and their expertise below.

About the romantic, dreamy, swoon worthy wedding dresses by Something Bleu Bridal:

The gowns we’re hand selected by Something Bleu Bridal’s buyer and stylist, Allison Badger. Ethereal, Vintage and timeless looks designed by Belgian design house, Rembo Styling. The first of the gowns, “Imma” features delicate long sleeves of multiple hand crafted laces specifically developed by Rembo designers. The second gown “Joya”,  Fluid crepe fabric matched with cotton lace features covered buttons creating the perfect blend of vintage and modern. “Tosi” the final art piece gown features deep golden treading on soft silk tulle, the high cowl neckline and slim long sleeves combine with the deep v back for a dramatic boho chic styling.

About the lovely and elegant bouquets from Renaissance Floral Design:

The marsala wedding color of the year inspired bouquet has Amaryllis, roses, nerine lilies, cymbidium orchids, bursaria spinosa, pieris japonica,  and tortum flowers. The second bouquet, was all dusty miller-soft, and full of texture and beauty!

About that beautiful make-up by Erin Marzilli: Her lace wedding dress complimented her vintage beauty look so perfectly. Erin set her eyes on a makeup palette that matched her complexion of soft redish-bronze, adding shimmery bronze in the creases and subtle champagne. Rosy, naturally flushed cheeks and lips combined with a subtle sheen on the high planes of the face and inner lids create stunning definition. Smudged redish-brown eyeshadow on the bottom and a light full set of lashes added the perfect amount of drama to off- set the delicate textures throughout the wedding photo shoot.

Make-up tip from Erin: Where your SPF everyday!  90% of aging comes from the sun & 10% acquires from the natural aging process.”  he recommends the Light Day Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 37 by Circadia

About that gorgeous hair by Jaysie of Hair Creations:

“The concept for this shoot centered on a romantic theme. With that in mind, I worked to ensure that all three looks for the photo shoot would feel soft, romantic and somewhat ethereal. This was accomplished by creating soft curls that could still hold up through three style changes. The first look was simply curled, and brushed through to create soft waves. The upstyle was a twisted chignon that worked around Vera’s entire head going from twisted and polished on one side to softer, slightly undone curls on the other side. The final look was created by brushing out the chignon until the curls were emphasized once again. I also backcombed and laced the hair to create exaggerated volume so that the look would feel truly ethereal next to the candelabras at dusk.”

Hair Styling tip from Jaysie: “To create waves that looks soft and undone start by using a high quality styling spray like Bumble and Bumble Does It All. Next, use a medium barrel curling iron (around 1 1/4 inch in diameter), wrapping the hair around the wand being careful not to curl the ends. Curl around your entire head shape by clipping away sections,  working from your nape to your crown. Using a flat brush that has boar’s hair and nylon bristles (to keep ends healthy and lustrous), brush through all of the curls. Be sure to take different pieces and brush them together to blend any lines of demarcation from the curled sections. Shake, spray, and Voila!”
