The moment I met John I knew that he was a step above the rest and I truly felt that he would one day be my husband. From his work ethic to his passion in life, these characteristics shine brighter each and every day. I know that he will be an amazing father to our children some day and he has already been an even greater husband, partner, and best friend. To quote our best man's speech: "Best friends are very special people in your life. They are the first people you think about when you make plans. They are the first people you go to when you need someone to talk to. You will phone them up just to talk about nothing, or the most important things in your life. In most cases they would take a bullet for you, cause it would be too painful to watch you get hurt." -Urban Dictionary. My husband is my best friend, and I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with him.
I knew Ashley and I were going to be married the day we first kissed. Now, it wasn’t the kiss that sealed it – though it was great – but rather it was my realization that I had found my best friend in the whole world. Ashley and I started our relationship absolutely loving to laugh and smile with each other. I was completely blown away by how happy she was to be around me, and how badly I wanted to be with her –I had never felt like that before. And over the four years leading up to our wedding day through today, nothing has changed. Sometimes I’m amazed at how ridiculous our humor can be, but then again, I’m not. We are not just man and wife, we’re two best friends who feel comfortable to say and do anything in front of one another, and we just absolutely love to see the other person happy. I fell in love with Ashley because I knew she was my best friend, and I’ll be in love with her for the rest of my life.
Family is the most important thing in the world to me. My parents have turned into my best friends as I have grown up, and I am so thankful for parents like that. They always encouraged me to work hard in life and to be a loving, caring person. I feel that I was so blessed to have both a hard working and comical upbringing because it has taught me how to "work hard and play hard" (to quote my dad's speech). John has been a perfect addition to our family. He shows nothing but respect and love towards my family and I can't wait for their relationship to grow even stronger over the years.
Ashley and I have both come from fantastic families and our appreciation and love for them is beyond profound. It’s amazing to see how truly lucky we are to have parents who love each other and who want nothing but the best for their children. Growing up, I saw my parents as two people who loved to be around each other and I can still remember times when they laughed themselves to tears (while I had no idea what was so funny). I see the same thing in Ashley’s parents, two people who love to be around each other and have fun with life. We are equally grateful to our siblings who have also helped develop our love of family. Our upbringings have no doubt influenced how Ashley and I envision the future we want to build, and we can’t thank our families enough.
